God Uses Ordinary People
In my last blog I talked about identity being the key to transformation, and transformation is about moving into the next stage of identity. Often, God uses prophetic words to bring us into a greater understanding of His view of us, which is usually something we wouldn’t have considered for ourselves. When a prophetic word comes, it gives us a glimpse of our future, even though we may not fully see it or understand it.

It is a fact! God uses ordinary people. Think about Abraham. He was a man born into a family that served idols. Neither his background or beliefs made him a likely person for God to choose for the purpose of recovering man from his sinful situation. At that time, Abraham wasn’t even a believer! Yet, God’s intention for him was that through him and his descendants, God’s authority and glory would be expressed in the earth. Amazing!
Abraham was living in Ur of the Chaldees. He likely, never had a thought that God would call him to leave his country, his kindred and his father’s house to go to a land God would show him for the initial unfolding of God’s recovery plan. How could Abraham possibly have an understanding of all that God was going to do through him? Yet, he responded to the word and direction he sensed, just the same as we are called to do.
Abraham was an ordinary man. He was no different than anyone else. He had nothing to boast of in himself. Yet, God had a plan and His call on this ordinary man’s life would forever show us that God uses ordinary people and makes them different. Just think about it, God was the cause of Abraham becoming a believer. It was God who initiated it all and it was God who caused him to believe. Abraham didn’t even believe in an exceptional way. He merely believed and set out to obey as best he could. God had to do a thorough work in him to form him into the vessel of honor He wanted. But God called him and God did the work.
God purposefully chose such a person to show every generation to follow that, “It is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” Rom. 9:16
Yes, God uses ordinary people. He forms them into vessels of honor, gives them an identity far beyond what they would have ever thought of or asked for, brings His authority to earth through them and reveals the radiance of Himself in their lives.
God’s view of you is far beyond anything you could imagine. As you walk in your God given identity, you are transforming the world around you. You are bringing the authority of heaven to earth.
Just remember, when you have thoughts that are contrary to the truth that God uses ordinary people, remember that God is a God who is never defeated. He is very persistent. Abraham was able to become all that God purposed because God was persistent.
God is a God who holds us fast and will not let us go.
He will see that you become all He has purposed for you to be.
Walk in your identity!

Thank you sister Jane.I have read the Nov. Dec. and January 2012 ..this are a confirmation of what the Lord place in my spirit late Dec.2011,as He lead me to enter the new year in consacrating my boddy in sacrifice, interceding for our Aglow liders and those in US govermental positions, but mustly the house of God in America(the believers)..It is my prayer that God’s fire of His Holly Spirit, stir up and bring revelation to Aglow man and woman liders in it fullnes and give us the strainght, enlarge Gods vision in each member, and each light house in our area.
It is my prayer that the fire of God descent in great manifestations;of fisical, emotional and and spiritual healing, restoring and preparing the people of God and last but NOT LESS that the preaching of the gospel of Christ will impact those who are tuch and we will see a harvest of souls, coming up, stablishing THE KINGDOM OF GOD Aleluhia..!!!
Be bless my sister Jane,
I am praying for you.
Praise The Mighty Name of Our Savior King Jesus!! All Glory be unto Him!! Our IDENTITY IN CHRIST: He is The WAY, The TRUTH and The LIFE
My Local News: Central Auckland, Three Kings evening Aglow Candlelight end of year meeting is this Tuesday night and I’m so looking forward to it.. to have fellowship with my sisters and thank God together!! My Revelation Word today: As believers, our life journey often takes us through many differents roads, trails, tracks, sliproads long and short; some bumpy, some smooth, some familiar and comfortable, some unfamiliar and uncomfortable and often irritable. One thing is scripturally certain is the WAY to the Father through Christ so whatevr road we’re travelling, be encouraged in the knowledge that Christ is the best reliable MAINROAD ever. Hence, whatever road we travel we know, by Faith, we are not travelling in isolation because every road we travel is serviced efficiently by, and closely linked to The MAIN HIGHWAY that is CHRIST’s WAY!! Jesus says I AM THE WAY!!
We must also remember God’s time table is different than ours. 40 yrs from the time of the call to the time of moving out to fulfill God’s prophecy. Like in Moses, Noah, and other examples in the bible. God does not usually write the day to day direction and outcome on a wall for us to follow. We walk by faith and go thru many trials here on earth. But God’s ultimate plan is fulfilled if we stay faithful and focused. That is where prayer and the encouragement of the body of Christ is key. 30 some yrs ago, when I had gone thru a great trial, in the middle of the night a still small voice came to me and I heard in my heart, yet though I slay you, will you trust me. I knew it was God and I knew that I did not want to follow Satan. It has been difficult, sometimes very difficult to keep on keeping on.
But with the prayer and support we have walked the path by faith, many, many times wishing God would write the answers and directions on the wall. God does have a plan and only now am I beginning to see answers 30 some yrs later. Write the scriptures and promises that God gives to you on paper and put it on your fridge as a reminder for those days that it seems like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling. God is faithful and his time table is a blink of the eye to Him, but seems like an eternity to us waiting for answers to our prayers.
Forever grateful that He does…!
Thank you Jane! I am so touched by your wisdom and insight. I was born and raise as a Buddhist in Singapore. For Forty-seven years I lived my life as a Buddhist. I have traveled to many countries including Europe and Australia during those years. Then in 1988 I settled in America and in 2005 supernaturally through am encounter with Lord Jesus Christ I was converted in to Christianity. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. I knew nothing about Lord Jesus nor expose to Bible prior to my conversion. Today, God put my in Muscatine Aglow Lighthouse as a Lighthouse president since 2009. God is working miracles in our Lighthouse. When God called me to do this I wasn’t even a member of Aglow nor do I know anything about Aglow. Your story about Abraham is so encouraging to me. I felt so touched and I feel somewhat related to that. God has great plan for Aglow Ministry and I am privilege to be a part of the Aglow Family. God bless you Jane! Thank you!
Thank you, Jane, for your profound wisdom. The wisdom you get from above. This is a wonderful reminder that it isn’t about what I have to offer, I just have to be a willing vessel and obey. God will do it all if I just step out into His leading in my life.
Jane, This is so good! I never really thought about Abraham being a non-believer when God called him. We always think of the partriarchs being great men of faith and though Abraham was – he didn’t start out that way. It is truly all about God – nothing done in our own strength can stand. He begins it in us and it is He who finishes it! Thank you Jane for sharing your wisdom and insight with us – Have a blessed Christmas!
May we not look down on ourselves for being so ordinary. “Yes, God uses ordinary people. He forms them into vessels of honor, gives them an identity far beyond what they would have ever thought of or asked for, brings His authority to earth through them and reveals the radiance of Himself in their lives.” Thank you, Ms Jane!
