Greeting and orientation with Jane Hansen-Hoyt.  Visit in rotation: Palmach, Diasporia Museum, Jaffa, Machon Ayalon (munitions factory), Independence Hall.  Our group will be split the first day between First Time Participants and Return Participants.  First Timers will make their way to Palmach Museum, which tells the story of the Israel Defense Forces before and leading up to the Declaration of the States Israel.  Return Participants will visit Machon Ayalon, an underground secret munition factory which operated prior to the War of Independence providing bullets for the stun guns.  At 3:00 p.m.  English speakers will end their day in Tel Aviv at the Independence Hall where on the 14th of May in 1948, Ben Gurion read Israel’s Declaration of Independence.  Our French & Spanish speakers will end their day at 4:00 p.m. at Independence Hall.  Then travel north to Tiberius, to our hotel located on the Sea of Galilee, where we will spend the next two nights.

After breakfast we will begin with a boat tour on the Sea of Galilee with celebration and rejoicing.  The Generations bus will go to the Golan near the Lebanon border where they will meet some IDF soldiers. The rest of the group will go to the Golan to a site overlooking Syria. Sometimes the sounds of war in Syria can be heard from this site. This afternoon you will have an opportunity to be baptized or rededicated in the Jordan River (please bring your swim suit if you wish to participate, gowns and towels are provided).  Return to our hotel for dinner.

After breakfast we will begin the day by gathering on the lawn of our beautiful Gai Beach hotel overlooking the Sea of Galilee for a time of prayer and preparation for aspects of the trip taking place in Jerusalem.  The Generations bus will go for a hike on a portion of the Jesus Trail following in Jesus’ footsteps.  The first timers and repeaters will go on to the Mt. of the Beatitudes.  We continue to Mt. Carmel where the Altar of Elijah stood and from where we will pray and proclaim over the Valley of Jezreel.  Continue now to Yerushaliyim “The City of Gold.” At Mount Scopus, overlooking Jerusalem, the new Watchmen on the Wall (WOW) will be commissioned. Those who have previously been commissioned can be re-dedicated.  Check into our hotel and enjoy dinner in the main dining room.

This morning, First Time Participants depart for Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.  We will go to the top of the old Jewish fortress of Masada.   Visit and swim in the Dead Sea (be sure to bring your water shoes as the shore is rocky).  Returning Participants will go to Soreq Caves, Emmaus, and then to Ein Kerem which, in addition to being the town where John was from, also has an open air Saturday market with vendors selling jewelry, clothes, food, etc.  Saturday evening, First Time Participants will gather to watch the Laser Sound & Light show.  Return Participants—the first 50 to sign up—can go to the ICEJ headquarters villa for a presentation.  The remaining Return Participants can go the Sound & Light show or enjoy an early night at the hotel.

Everyone will gather together on the Mount of Olives for a program.  Then we will go to The Ramparts and become Watchmen on the Walls of Jerusalem, praying over the city and surrounding countryside.  Special emphasis on the Old City will be enjoyed by the First Time Participants who will also visit Ammunition Hill today. Return Participants will visit the historic Hurva Synagogue and the Jewish Quarter, as well as the Western Wall, and the Cardo for shopping.  The Generations bus will go through the Rabbinical Tunnel.

This morning, First Time Participants will visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum. Return Participants will visit Ammunition Hill in rotation.  We will all gather together again at the Garden Tomb. Tour the beautiful grounds, have a quiet moment of prayer or meditation. The group will end the time at the Garden Tomb by sharing communion.  Be prepared to leave a tip for the upkeep of this historic garden site.  Return to the hotel for dinner.  Asher Intrater and the tream from his school will be with us for dinner.  After dinner, Asher will have an opportunity to bring a message to us.

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

We begin the day early by going up on the Temple Mount. On the Temple Mount, we will silently complete our prayer assignments.  Then groups will rotate through the new exhibit by the Western Wall called the Chain of Generations. We all head to Bethlehem after lunch and visit as the Church of the Nativity, the Shepherd’s Field, and Boaz’s Field, time permitting.  After dinner the group will gather for our last time as a group, celebrating all that the Lord did in our midst while we were in Israel.
